Chelsea Nelms, LAMFT

Chelsea Nelms, is an associate licensed marriage and family therapist that has recently found her roots in Valdosta, GA. Chelsea Nelms, LAMFT graduated with her B.A. in psychology with a neuroscience minor from Franklin College in Franklin, IN (2018). Desiring warmer weather and a change of pace she moved down to Valdosta, GA where she received her accredited M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2020. Through the accredited program at VSU she gained a significant amount of knowledge in psychotherapy, crisis interventions, solution-focused therapy, and systemic theory.

Chelsea Nelms, LAMFT has clinical experience ranging from crisis intervention, suicide assessor, to a child/adolescent school-based therapist, a group facilitator, mental health advocate speaker and counselor for substance abuse treatment within the court system. Chelsea has been giving counseling services for 2 years. In addition, she has been an associate licensed marriage and family therapist (LAMFT) since 2021 (GA) and is an active mental health advocate.

Her clinical path has allowed her to gain significant knowledge & experience in the field of mental health and counseling, specifically working with a diverse and unique population ranging from ages 3 and up and working with couples, individuals, families, children/adolescents. Her areas of specialty focus and expertise are depression, anxiety, intimate partner violence, trauma, child abuse, bereavement/grief/loss, mood disorders, ADD/ADHD, cyberbullying, behavioral modification, and couple/marital/pre-marital. She specializes in an eclectic modality of therapy utilizing CBT, narrative therapy, mindfulness, person-centered, and solution-focused therapy.

Chelsea Nelms, LAMFT strives to provide a safe space for individuals to express their concerns, worries, experiences, and emotions to foster growth in their mental health journey. She practices from a collaborative approach and will work with her clients to ensure she is providing the latest evidence-based practices.
